Chemours in Belgium

Our Mechelen site serves as a production facility for coatings, housing a coatings lab and a Nafion™ lab. We leverage fluoropolymers as essential components in our liquid coatings, formulating them for various applications across industries such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, food, and electronics. These are critical products in modern industrial and residential coatings that are used to preserve quality and endurance, protect from contamination, and strengthen many solutions we rely on every day.

While our Teflon™ products are critical, we see a significant and growing share of business in the industrial sector, with high-quality applications in the medical sector.

Since 2017, our scientists are also heavily involved in the development of Nafion™ membranes that will be a key component of the future green hydrogen economy.

Our Antwerp (Kallo) site is the Center of Expertise for Customer Excellence and Logistics for Chemours in the EMEA region. These teams manage the supply chain and regional customer services for all our strategic business units in EMEA, providing comprehensive support to our customers worldwide.

At the same time is our Antwerp site also the main EMEA hub for the Titanium Technology business, housing Customer Services, Planning, Operations (Bulk to Pack), technical labs and warehousing on one location.

Our Brussels office, located in the heart of the European district, serves as a hub for government and regulatory affairs.

Great technical development

Our Technical teams in Antwerp and Mechelen are engaged in several technical developments for Coatings, Nafion™ and Ti-Pure. Their activities include the improvement of our product but also innovative steps in recycling (Remove-To-Reclaim initiative).

Embracing future generations

In our Mechelen Technology team, we have room for three internships every year. Also, our HR team offers internships to students. Next to that, we hire students to help us in production during the year.

We share Europe’s vision for a net zero future. Europe’s next chapter must be carbon neutral. And for that it needs a strong domestic industry of carbon-neutral technologies.

To be able to achieve ambitious climate targets, the EU Hydrogen Strategy envisages a drastic expansion of hydrogen production and infrastructure, which would not be possible without the production of Nafion™. Chemours’ Nafion technology is an ion conductive membrane material that enables green hydrogen energy production, energy storage in flow batteries, and hydrogen conversion to power fuel-cell vehicles through water electrolysis. Through our innovations, we make this membrane even more durable and higher performance.

The proximity to the Chemours plant provides a unique opportunity for TSM students to discover on-site what a career in chemistry, close to home, entails.

As part of the ChemFEST (Chemours Future of Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology) school partnership program, Chemours will support TSM financially and will take on a mentoring role where they want to inspire and support both teachers and students through various actions.

- STEM days organized by and at Chemours for 2nd-grade secondary school students.
- Participation of Chemours in the Thinking and Doing Day organized by TSM for 6th-grade students.
- Chemours will advise and support the school on safety, lab setups, sustainability, waste collection, ergonomics, etc.
- Chemours will contribute to the "Str@ffe madammen afternoon" organized by TSM with the aim of getting girls and women interested in science.
- Chemours is committed to a "Day of Service" where TSM can count on Chemours employees and technicians from Chemours' maintenance team to help with chores and renovation work.
In addition, as part of the ChemFEST (Chemours Future of Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology) school partnership program, Chemours will contribute to refurbishing the science and STEM lab through financial support.

At Chemours, we work together every day to realize a more sustainable future. Not only are we making our contributions to enabling the energy transition, but we are also installing EV charging stations at our site that are accessible to everyone.
